Leader in Medicine

Adebola Nnewihe

MD, FACOG

The American Health Council has proudly appointed Adebola Nnewihe, MD as “Best in Medicine” in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field over the course of her impressive 14 year career.

Dr. Nnewihe’s path to becoming an esteemed doctor began at Berea College, where she attained her BA in 1997. This was followed by her MD in 2003 from Case Western Reserve University and a Residency at Thomas Jefferson University. Her career choice was influenced by her personal experiences at the age of 14, when she received medical care for burns at the Shriner’s Institute for Crippled Children in Cincinnati, Ohio. The life changing impact of the doctors that cared for her inspired her interest in medicine and her experiences as a patient for many years taught her an even deeper level of compassion.

For the past 5 years, Dr. Adebola Nnewihe has worked at her own practice, Be Well Women’s Health, a comprehensive gynecology practice which offers evidenced based medical and surgical options. The practice offers a full range of services including, but not limited to, family planning, treatment of abnormal bleeding, fibroids, ovarian and other pelvic masses, vaginal and urinary disorders, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian disease, menopausal symptoms, and osteoporosis. Be Well Women’s Health partners with its patients to set wellness goals that address the physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual aspects of well-being, offering comprehensive gynecology services which included MonaLisa Touch therapy.

With particular expertise in Women’s Health, Medicine, Gynecology, and Patient Care, Dr. Nnewihe’s day-to-day responsibilities include consulting women on their health care needs, while providing the highest-level patient care to every patient she treats. Additionally, Dr. Nnewihe offers many office and same day procedures for the treatment of symptomatic fibroids and irregular painful cycles.

Dr. Nnewihe also has a special interest in the areas of adolescent sexual and reproductive health and is currently authoring a chapter on the topic in an online textbook (Public Health Management and Policy). She also specializes in minimally invasive laparoscopic gynecologic surgery.

Over the course of her illustrious career, Dr. Nnewihe is particularly proud of establishing her own practice. Her many accolades include being the physician with lowest C-Section rate at Shore Medical Center, the recipient of the “Apple” Teaching Resident Award, the Seabury Award and the Norman C. Wheeler Award, as well as official recognition from the Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society and the Mortar Board National Honor Society.

Looking back at her achievements to date, Dr. Nnewihe attributes her success to her personal experiences, compassion, and excellent training. Her desire to help those in need and a lifelong love of learning is reflected in her memberships to the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the New Jersey Perinatal Safety Collaborative and most recently, the American Health Council.

In the future, Dr. Nnewihe hopes to grow her practice to become a recognized center in the area for women’s health. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and writing poetry.
