Dr. Althea O’Shaughnessy, Physician, has been warmly welcomed as “Best in Medicine” by the American Health Council following 27 years’ experience in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology. The key to her success? Hard work and never giving up.

Dr. Althea O’Shaughnessy’s interest in Medicine was sparked by her love of high school science where she was fortunate enough to become involved in a medical program. It became clear very quickly that healthcare was her calling.

Graduating medical school in 1982 and obtaining her MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Dr. O’Shaughnessy went on to complete an OBGYN residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Following this, she gained a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology in 1988 from the Downstate Medical Center in New York. Today, her expertise lies in Fertility, Ovulation, Medicine, Patient Care, IVF, Egg donor and Egg freezing.

Dr. O’Shaughnessy recently moved to a position at the Conceptions Reproductive Associates of Colorado. A specialist center for fertility treatment priding themselves on empathy, understanding, encouragement and their own highly acclaimed clinicians and embryologists who achieve some of the highest pregnancy rates. They offer services in Fertility, Healthcare, Medicine, Donor Egg, Ovulation Induction, Screening and Wellness.

Day to day, Dr. O’Shaughnessy works in a private reproductive endocrinology practice, seeing patients for consultations, performing egg retrievals and embryo transfers, alongside minor procedures such as hysteroscopies. She is the Director of the Egg Donor Program.

Not only recognized by her peers and patients for her outstanding dedication to her craft, Dr O’Shaughnessy has received the Castle Connolly Top Doctor award every year from 2010-2017 and has published over forty papers and presentations in her field.

She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine. Yet amongst her many accolades, Dr. O’Shaughnessy’s personal pride was seeing her practice receive the highest live birth rate in the country for assisted reproductions.

Whilst growing the practice, in the next five years Dr. O’Shaughnessy aims to increase the success rate of assisted reproductive technologies.
In her spare time she enjoys Pilates, tap dancing and staying active.
