Banafsheh Yafeh


Dr. Banafsheh Yafeh has been honored by the American Health Council as “Best in Medicine” in acknowledgement of her dedication and contributions to Neurology and Stroke Neurology. The acclaimed Stroke Neurologist has accrued twelve years of experience and is a highly respected medical professional.

To pursue her chosen career path, Dr. Yafeh acquired her Medical Doctorate from the University of Southern California; Keck School of Medicine and graduated in 2003. Through a research opportunity at UCLA, Dr. Yafeh gained insight into the role of Director of the Stroke Unit and that inspired her to pursue Stroke/Vascular Neurology as a career. Subsequently, she completed her Neurology Residency at Barrow Neurological Institute (2006-2009) and then trained at Northwestern University Stroke/Vascular Neurology Fellowship Program (2009-2010). Dr. Yafeh notes that in the vast majority of cases, strokes are life changing events. She finds her role as a Stroke Neurologist meaningful, because of the opportunity to provide her patients with the best neurological and medical care throughout their entire stroke recovery process.

Dr. Yafeh has been working at the NeuroMedical Diagnostic Medical Group since 2011. Her special interests include treating patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, TIA, vascular malformations and aneurysms. She specializes in primary and secondary stroke prevention.  Additionally, she treats patients with a wide range of neurological disorders such as headaches, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, movement disorders, (such as Parkinson’s disease and tremors), dementia and more.

Dr. Yafeh humbly attributes her success to the support she has received from her family, mentors, and educators. Additionally, Dr. Yafeh is a member of a number of esteemed professional organizations, including the American Stroke Association, the American Neurological Association and the American Health Council.

When not busy working, Dr. Yafeh enjoys spending time and socializing with her friends and family.
