Barbara O'Reilly, MDDr. Barbara O’Reilly, MD has been honored by the American Health Council as “Best in Medicine.” Drawing on an impressive three decades of experience, Dr. O’Reilly has renowned expertise in Pediatrics and is utilizing her years of knowledge to successfully run her own practice.

Finding an interested in medicine from an early age after the broadcast of PBS’s first open heart surgery in Cuba, she was instantly intrigued by it and with a natural love for children, felt it was the obvious choice for her to pursue as her future career.

Beginning her medical studies at the University Zaragoza, Spain, Dr. O’Reilly graduated with her Medical degree in 1984. She then went on to complete her Residency at the Jacksonville at Shands Hospital. In 1991, Dr. O’Reilly became Board Certified in Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics.

Dr. O’Reilly has served in the role of Pediatrician for 25 years, and specializes in medicine, Pediatrics, patient care and special needs including Down Syndrome. Her daily responsibilities include treating patients from birth right up to the age of college completion. Also, as part of her role, Dr. O’Reilly teaches residents, Np’s and PA students on a weekly basis.

Amongst her many accomplishments, Dr. O’Reilly holds opening her own practice, Oceanside Pediatrics, in particularly high regard. Founded in 1997, Oceanside Pediatrics offers comprehensive care from infancy through young adulthood and the center is proudly affiliated with Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Oceanside’s Pediatrics’ services are designed to ensure the healthy development of children by screening for health conditions, administering immunizations, counseling families on nutrition safety, and diagnosing and managing acute and chronic illnesses. Other services offered by Oceanside Pediatrics include vaccinations, nursing, medicine, primary care, common illnesses, acute care, chronic illnesses, newborn care, skin problems, eye problems, chest problems, muscle pains, infectious disease, urinary problems and allergy.

Dr. O’Reilly attributes her success to her love for medicine and her natural ability to provide the highest-level patient care to each patient she treats. She is incredibly thankful to the never-ending support she has received from both her daughter and great friend Rebecca Cooper, who have kept her motivated and determined even when times were tough.

In the future, Dr. O’Reilly plans to maintain the success of her practice. She looks forward to keeping up with new trends in health care, seeing it as an exciting challenge, and in turn, fueling her long standing desire to help those in need.

Outside of work, Dr. O’Reilly enjoys spending time with her family and particularly, her three children, whom one of which will be following in her footsteps to embark on a career in medicine. When she can, Dr. O’Reilly likes to dedicate her time to charitable organizations including the Special Olympics, an international organization that changes lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities (ID).
