Leader in Medicine

Claire Osborn-White

DO

The American Health Council selected Claire Osborn-White, DO to its Board of Physicians for her outstanding contributions to the medical field. Currently a clinical physician at Activate Healthcare in Defiance, Ohio, Dr. Osborn-White consults with patients three days per week in the clinic, which is staffed for quality and preventative medicine. While she has held her current role for seven months, Dr. Osborn-White has spent the last 18 years in the healthcare field garnering skills and expertise in family medicine.

Inspired by her own family practitioner, who was a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Osborn-White decided to pursue a career in medicine. She enrolled at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 1999. After receiving board certification in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulation Therapy by the American Board of Family Physicians, Dr. Osborn-White immediately began practicing in the field.

Since the beginning of her career, she believes that perfection is not a goal, since everyone is a work in progress. She enjoys working with patients and helping them improve their health and well-being, and continues to apply her skills to her position at Activate Healthcare. According to its website, Activate Healthcare developed a comprehensive approach to delivering primary care by giving providers time, tools and support needed to make a difference in the lives of those they serve. Dr. Osborn-White’s efforts to improve her patients’ health through academics and education earned her the Outstanding Medical Student Award of the Southern Ohio Region in 1999 and the Frank W. George award in 2002 for a presentation on Fournier’s Gangrene. To continue to evolve, she is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.

Although she has a successful and rewarding career, Dr. Osborn-White’s journey was not always easy. After suffering from complications from a brain aneurysm surgery in August 2015, she endured seven additional follow-up surgeries until May 2017. She returned to work during her medical journey and credits the support of her husband, her aunt and uncle, mother and father and sister, as well as countless family members and friends for carrying her through harrowing times. Today, she continues to enjoy the company of her family, her husband, her two sons and her two dogs. She plans to continue to excel her career by continuing to help patients at Activate Healthcare.
