Donald Sebesta


Dr. Donald Sebesta has been warmly welcomed as “Best in Medicine” by the American Health Council in recognition of his dedicated service to the medical profession. Based in Othello, Washington, Dr. Sebesta is a surgeon at North Valley Hospital and has held this position for the past 49 years. Overally, he has worked in the healthcare industry for the past 54 years, providing him with unrivalled levels of knowledge and expertise in both medicine and general surgery.

His interest in the medical profession began after working with a veterinarian at the age of 13. The veterinarian he was working with disliked surgery, so went on to train Dr. Sebesta to conduct all surgeries. He subsequently secured his MD qualification from the University of Pennsylvania in 1963 after which Dr. Sebesta undertook an internship at the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in 1964 and a residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in 1968. He is also Board Certified in General Surgery.

The North Valley Hospital was founded in 1983 by the Dominican Sisters of Washington and has an impressive history spanning several decades. The hospital initially only had 18 beds and 10 bassinets but now houses larger rooms with private bathrooms, a birthing center and many other features. To make sure they provide the best patient care possible, North Valley Hospital prioritizes viability, accountability, trust, integrity and diversity. The major products and services include medicine and general surgery.

The day to day responsibilities of Dr. Sebesta at North Valley Hospital include performing complex surgeries, running the clinic and providing expert perioperative care. To share his vast expertise with others, Dr. Sebesta is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Washington State Medical Association. He credits his vast success to good parenting, undying motivation, supportive mentors and an adventurous bucket list.

In addition to his medical career, the esteemed doctor is proud to have served in the military for 14 years and survived Vietnam. He is also proud of his family practice and his children.

Looking to the next five years, Dr. Sebesta’s professional goals include training and working with future surgeons. In his free time he enjoys travelling with his wife.
