The American Health Council has cordially appointed Dr. Douglas Hardy, as “Best in Medicine.” Working in the healthcare industry for over 31 years, Dr. Hardy is an expert in the field of Complex Care, Patient Care and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome.

Dr. Hardy completed his Doctor of Medicine in 1982 at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Following on from this achievement, he completed his Residency at the University of South Florida Hospital.

Dr. Hardy has been working for Mednax for 31 Years at the Winnie Palmer Hospital. He has currently spent 3 years in the role of Clinical Director at the NICU level III. Mednax is a leading health care organization that partners with hospitals, health systems, and health care facilities to offer services spanning across the continuum of care. Together with their growing network of office-based specialists, they are making a difference in the lives of their patients and their families. The organization specialises in Neonatal, Anesthesia, Radiology, Pain Management and Revenue Cycle Management alongside many other services.
Dr. Hardy feels incredibly fortunate that his role in medicine enables him to not only serve people but to also collaborate with healthcare professionals to give the very best care possible.
On a daily basis, Dr Hardy provides patient care and administrative detail. Dr. Hardy educates parents on their baby’s conditions, treatments, and preventative measures. Dr. Hardy also upholds the position of Quality Director at the NICU where he is in charge of quality improvement and staff projects.

Throughout the course of his impressive career, Dr. Hardy has also been successful in receiving a number of professional accomplishments including becoming Board Certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal – Perinatal Medicine. Alongside this, he was appointed Chairman of the Infant Health Subcommittee of the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative. Dr Hardy also serves on the FPQC Leadership and Steering Committee.
To broaden his knowledge in his field, Dr. Hardy remains affiliated with numerous professional associations. These include the American Health Council, the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also a member of the National Perinatal Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics – Florida Chapter and the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative.

Dr. Hardy had the honor of becoming Chief Resident at the University of South Florida and in 2011, was chosen as Exemplary Physician by the Nurse Council of Orlando Health. Dr. Hardy dedicates his success to the great mentorship he received from dedicated people who helped guide him. His believes that his hard work and passion has helped him to succeed in the industry.

Looking to the future, Dr. Hardy hopes to continue to grow in his role and make more positive impacts in the area of quality improvement. Naturally he will continue to provide excellence in patient care and education.

Away from work, Dr. Hardy spends his time helping charitable organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Orlando Union Rescue Mission. He also enjoys woodworking in his spare time.
