Dr. Andrea J. King, MD, FACSThe American Health Council has welcomed Dr. Andrea J. King, MD, FACS as “Best in Medicine” in recognition of her outstanding dedication in the field of Trauma Surgery & Surgical Critical Care.

Dr. Andrea J. King, MD, FACS, is the Immediate Past Chief of Staff, after serving as elected Chief of Staff for a two year term at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington. Dedicated to providing the highest possible service to her patients, Dr. King utilizes her years of experience and expertise.

With surgeons trained in general surgery, surgical critical care, and neuro-critical care, as well as holding expertise in the diagnosis and support of critically ill and injured patients, PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is known for being the leading trauma hospital in Vancouver and Southwest Washington, equipped to manage complex and severe traumas. Prior to her role here, Dr. King was the Medical Director of the Surgical ICU for three years.

Dr. King had always wanted to pursue a career in a caring profession. After receiving her undergraduate degree at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, she went on to achieve her medical degree in 2010 from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Then in 2015, Dr. King completed her residency in general surgery at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Subsequently in 2016, she completed her Trauma/ Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ensuring she stays ahead of the developments in her field, Dr. King has active memberships with the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and is an instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support. Dr. King is additionally certified in both surgical critical care and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS) – an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Recently, Dr. King has been matched into a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at UT Southwestern in Dallas from July 2024-June 2025.

As a testament to her professional excellence, Dr. King has recently been recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Trusted Trauma Surgeon for her years of professional excellence in the medical field and her unwavering commitment to her patients and staff at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Not only this, in 2019 she was awarded the Mission and Values Award for Collaboration from PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

In her free time, Alaskan-born Dr. King, enjoys traveling and outdoor adventure. She also likes to spend time visiting her family and enjoying almost all activities that involve water. Dr. King is very involved with volunteering with Habitat for Humanity– a non-profit organization that helps people in the community and around the world build or improve a place they can call home. She is a member of the Evergreen Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors. She has  volunteered with Habitat for Humanity across the country as well as Guatemala and Nepal for the past 21 years.
