Charlie Evans

RPT, MHA

The American Health Council appoints Ms. Charlie Evans RPT, MHA as Best in Medicine, in recognition of her extensive contributions to the sector over the course of 40 years, within the role of Physical Therapist Consultant.

Ms. Evans began her academic endeavours at the California State University, Los Angeles, where she graduated with her BA in 1974. With a keen interest in healthcare, Ms. Evans remained in education, receiving her RPT from the Children’s Hospital School Of Physical Therapy in 1976. She furthered her studies again in 2000 at the University of LaVerne, where she successfully attained her MHA. In an effort to remain ahead in her field, Ms. Evans has also retained membership of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Ms. Evans has fulfilled her role as Physical Therapist Consultant for Watts Healthcare Corp for the past 36 years. Watts Health Center is the headquarters for medical and administrative services offered by the Watts Healthcare Corporation. The center, one of the first community health centers in the United States, is a 63,000 square-foot facility housing a staff of 300 and offers a full range of services including clinical, preventative, speciality and ancillary services.

Ms. Evans first became involved in her profession from her own experience with her late son. He was extremely sick as a child and required extensive therapy. After his passing, she was drawn to making an impact on others lives through therapy

Ms. Evans displays significant expertise in physical therapy in her daily role, overseeing the physical therapy program at Watts Healthcare. Alongside this role, she also provides home health care for patients (mainly orthopedic cases) from St. John’s and Santa Monica Orthopedic Group.

Having been the recipient of many accolades throughout her distinguished career, Ms. Evans was particularly proud to have been included in the Dean’s List from California State University in 1974. She was also honored to be awarded the Certificate of Appreciation for loyal and valuable services from the West Adams Community Hospital in 1975.

Looking back at her achievements to date, Ms. Evans attributes her success to her nature as a people person and her ability to connect to her patients on a personal level. The way she deeply cares about her patients and her involvement in their treatment makes their successes her successes.

In the near future, Ms. Evans plans to retire from Watts Healthcare, but will continue to touch the lives of many through private patient care. In her time away from work, Ms. Evans loves to be creative by indulging in home décor and art.
