Ernesto Aguilar

The American Health Council has warmly welcomed Dr. Ernesto Aguilar as “Best in Medicine,” in honor of four decades spent working in the healthcare industry.

Dr. Aguilar studied Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona, receiving his MD certification in 1973. This was followed by an Internship in 1974 and Residency in 1976, both undertaken at the University of Arizona Medical Center.

Dr. Aguilar is currently Vice President of El Dorado Internal Medicine PC, a branch of the multi-specialty physician-owned medical group, The Arizona Community Physician, which provides patient care in the specialties of family medicine, internal medicine, geriatrics, endocrinology, pediatrics, rheumatology, dermatology and gynecology. The ACP was created to develop the best services possible and to preserve the private practice of medicine. Considered Arizona’s largest and most successful physician-owned medical group, ACP employes over 800 members of staff across many facilities, located in Tucson, Oro Valley, and Green Valley. Major services offered include hospital planning and development, medical school planning and development, health care strategy, patient safety and quality improvement, patient services and research.

Dr. Aguilar has extensive expertise in internal medicine, medicine, biology, chemistry and preventative care. On a day-to-day basis, Dr. Aguilar’s responsibilities include clinical services that address all internal medicine concerns.

Among his professional accomplishments, Dr. Aguilar is proud to have published a paper with the organization NHMA and to have been a featured speaker on the advancement of Hispanic issues. Dr. Aguilar is also a proud member of the Board of Directors of the National Hispanic Medical Association.

Dr. Aguilar has been awarded NHMA Fellow of the Year, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Over the next five years, Dr. Aguilar aims to continue practicing under the principle that “work can be fun,” and hopes to continue to be a force for change in his community.

Outside of the workplace, Dr. Aguilar enjoys fishing, salsa dancing, traveling, and mariachi. He is also a fluent Spanish speaker. Keen to give back whenever he can, Dr. Aguilar enjoys working closely with charitable organization, The International Mariachi Conference.
