The American Health Council has welcomed Dr. Kenneth D. Katz, MD as “Best in Medicine” in recognition of his outstanding dedication in the field of Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology.

A double board-certified and fellowship-trained emergency physician, Dr. Katz is affiliated with Lehigh Valley Physician Group.

Lehigh Valley Physician Group (LVPG) is among the largest medical groups in the United States. Nearly 1,000 physicians and 600 advanced practice clinicians represent 48 medical specialties in more than 160 practices in the Allentown and Bethlehem areas. Their mission is to heal, comfort and care for the people of their community by providing advanced and compassionate health care of superior quality and value, supported by education and clinical research.

Holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Yale University, Dr. Katz graduated with his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at Christiana Health Care Services Inc., and his fellowship in medical toxicology at the Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in emergency medicine and medical toxicology through the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Moreover, he is board-eligible in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician works in an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients on an unscheduled basis. Medical toxicology is the medical subspecialty concerned with the treatment of poisoned and envenomated patients; a medical toxicologist also treats those suffering from substance use disorders, adverse drug reactions and occupational and environmental exposures.
