The American Health Council has cordially appointed Dr. Nereida Parada as “Best in Medicine.” Working in the healthcare industry for over 16 years, Dr. Parada is an expert in the field of Pulmonary Diseases, Immunology and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and possesses an exceptional willingness to continue learning and sharing her knowledge.

Keen to progress with a career in medicine, Dr. Parada achieved her Doctor of Medicine in 1987 at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. Subsequently, she continued her studies at Boston University, School of Medicine in order to complete her fellowship.

Dr. Parada has served in her current role at Tulane University, School of Medicine for the past 2 years. As one of the most recognized centers, Tulane University School of Medicine provides a vibrant center for education, research and public service. The school aims to equip the next generation with the skills and tools needed to succeed in the industry.
On a daily basis, Dr. Parada conducts patient centered clinical research and teaches residents, students and fellows. In addition to this, she is responsible for teaching mind-body techniques at the Mind-Body Center of Louisiana.

Throughout the course of her illustrious career, Dr. Parada has been successful in receiving a number of professional accomplishments including decreasing the percentage of Asthma in patients within the hospital by an outstanding 25 percent. In addition, Dr. Parada is honored to be the Co-Founder and Board Member of the Mind-Body Center of Louisiana.
To broaden her knowledge in her field, Dr. Parada remains a part of numerous professional associations. These include being a member of the Board of the Plains-Gulf Region of the American Lung Association, a member of the American Thoracic Society and a member of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology.

In recognition of her achievements, Dr. Parada has had the honor of receiving the Super Doctors Award, Best Doctors Award, and Top Physicians Award. In addition to this, she received the Volunteer of the Year Award by the ALA in 2012.

Looking to the future, Dr. Parada hopes to focus on the continuation of growth in her current role. She would also like to share her knowledge through writing books and continuing to research and publish further work in the area of disease prevention.
Away from work, Dr. Parada spends her time helping charitable organizations such as the ALA of Louisiana.
