The American Health Council has warmly welcomed Dr. Susan Bratton, M.D., as “Best in Medicine.” Drawing on over two decades of service to the profession, Dr. Bratton is highly regarded for her contributions as a Professor and for her expertise in the Care Medicine.

Dr. Bratton first became involved in her current profession due to her long held desire to become a doctor, combined with her natural love for children. It was therefore, a natural progression to move into a role which involved caring for children.

Having attained a Masters in Public Health from the Pediatric University of Washington and an MD from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine, Dr. Bratton undertook a Pediatrics Residency at Arkansas Children’s Hospital & Primary Children’s Hospital followed by a Critical Care Fellowship at Seattle’s Children’s Hospital and Medical Care.

For the past 12 years, Dr. Bratton is upheld the position of Professor at the University of Utah where her specialties lie in Care Medicine. Her day to day responsibilities include fulfilling her duties in pediatric critical care and as the former fellowship director and research mentor. She is currently undertaking research into closed head injuries, and traumatic brain injuries.

Reflecting on her successful career to date, Dr. Bratton attributes her success to being a hard worker, having a passion for the field and to her many collaborations. She is proud to have gained significant insight and expertise in areas such as Epidemiology, Pediatric Critical Care, Traumatic Brain Injury and the use of ECMO in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.

Board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Bratton is a member of the editorial board for pediatric critical care medicine and is a member of the Brain Trauma Foundation Guideline Committee for the acute management of severe traumatic braininjury. Her professional goals for the next 5 years include continuing with her personal and professional career growth, as well as completing work on current projects with her fellows.
