The American Health Council has welcomed Dr. Sylvia Irizarry, M.D., as ” Best in Medicine” in recognition of her extensive experience in the specialty field of Pediatrics for over two decades.
Dr. Sylvia Irizarry currently holds the role of Pediatrician and Co-Founder of Premier Suburban Medical Group. Premier Medical Group is a primary care and specialty group providing a variety of services to patients including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Oncology, and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Their mission is to always put the patient first as whole people with their health goals aligned to help meet their lifestyle goals. Prior to this position, Dr. Irizarry cared for patients in the community through her work with the DuPage Medical Group.
Dr. Irizarry began her academic endeavors at the New York University, School of Education where she received her Bachelor of Science in addition to her Master of Science in Nutrition. Subsequently, she attended Columbia University where she attained her Certificate in Premedical Sciences. Dr. Irizarry graduated from the University of Illinois, Chicago, in 1992 with her Medical Degree, gaining honors as part of the Martin Luther King Scholarship. In her next steps, she earned the opportunity to complete both her Internship and Residency under the highly regarded team at Loyola University Medical Center, where she specialized in Pediatrics.
After receiving her Medical Degree, Dr. Irizarry became passionate about a career in Pediatrics. She has always loved working with children and their parents. She currently and oversees all aspects of healthcare from the ages of infants to young adults. Her clinical areas of interest are Asthma, Allergies, Dermatology, Development, Infectious Disease, Mental and Emotional Health, as well as General Pediatrics.
Dr. Irizarry maintains active affiliations with the American Academy of Pediatrics, is Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and holds membership with the American Medical Association and Chicago Medical Association.
