Heather Kessler-Reyes, MD, MPH was recently selected to the American Health Council’s Board of Physicians. Currently a pulmonary critical care medicine attending physician at Pulmonary & Sleep Associates of South Florida in Boca Raton, Fla., Dr. Kessler-Reyes ensures that patients receive high-quality care. While she has held her current role for seven years, she has spent the last 13 years garnering skills and knowledge in pulmonary critical care medicine.
After earning a medical degree from Technion-Israel Institute of Technology Faculty of Medicine in 2004, Dr. Kessler-Reyes completed an internal medicine residency at Winthrop-University Hospitalin Mineola, N.Y. She later completed a fellowship at the same medical institution. Board-certified in internal medicine, critical care medicine and pulmonary disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she holds honors as a clinical assistant instructor at Stonybrook School of Medicine and a sub-investigator for pulmonary clinical trials at Winthrop-University Hospital.
As a pulmonologist at Pulmonary & Sleep Associates of South Florida, Dr. Kessler-Reyes diagnoses, evaluates and treats patients suffering with pneumonia, asthma, tuberculosis, emphysema and other pulmonary-related complications. She also manages patients who have lung or breathing complications, sleep apnea and other disorders that affect breathing. She is affiliated with Delray Medical Center, Boca Raton Regional Hospital and Bethesda Hospital East through her current employer. Throughout her career, Dr. Kessler-Reyes conducted several research projects at various medical institutions, including the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Boston University Medical Center, Boston University School of Public Health, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the State University of New York Health Science Center.
To ensure that she is connected with peers as well as the evolving healthcare industry, Dr. Kessler-Reyes is a member of several professional associations, including the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the American Thoracic Society, the Florida Medical Association and the American College of Palm Beach Medical. Additionally, she conducts volunteer work at medical clinics within her local community. With a successful career at hand — one she attributes to her education, research and training — Dr. Kessler-Reyes hopes to establish her own private practice in the future, as well as venture into education, perform speaking engagements and publish journals.
