Ignacio Castellon

Dr. Ignacio Castellon, MD has been warmly welcomed as “Best in Medicine” by the American Health Council for his dedication to the healthcare industry during 13 years as a physician, and his particular expertise in Radiation Oncology.

Dr. Castellon was inspired to pursue medicine as a boy by his grandfather, a surgeon in Nicaragua, and his path was confirmed when he undertook an internship at Mount Sinai Hospital Center. He excelled in his chosen field from a young age, winning a National Hispanic Scholarship and the Arnold A. Gerall Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Psychobiology in college, before graduating summa cum laude. He received his MD from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 2004, and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha.

Gravitating immediately towards Radiation Oncology, Dr. Castellon undertook his Residency at Wayne State University, where he was Chief Resident from 2008 – 9. Since 2016, Dr. Castellon has served as Chief of Operations, Radiation Oncology at Radiology Associates of Hollywood. Comprising 53 subspecialties-trained physicians, RAH is South Florida’s leading provider of imaging services and radiologic procedures, delivering a comprehensive range of services from Interventional procedures to PET/Nuclear Medicine, MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Women’s Imaging and Radiation Oncology.

In his role at RAH, Dr. Castellon works primarily with Breast, Lung and Gastrointestinal Cancer sufferers, and he has a particular specialty in Breast Cancer. He attributes his success as a physician to the fact that he always put his patients’ safety first. Alongside his role at RAH, Dr. Castellon continues to conduct and publish research. Recent articles include “Impact of Respiratory Gating Using 4- Dimensional Computed Tomography on the Dosimetry of Tumor and Normal Tissues in Patients with Thoracic Malignancies” in the American Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Dr. Castellon’s work keeps him so busy that he rarely has time for other pursuits, but he maintains a charitable involvement with the Bonnie Addario Foundation and the American Cancer Society. For the time being, his goal is to continue serving his patients in his current role.
