John M. Boden

The American Health Council has warmly welcomed Dr. John Boden, MD., as “Best in Medicine.” Having worked in the healthcare sector for 15 years, Dr. Boden has developed himself as an expert in the field of Palliative Medicine and continues to demonstrate a willingness to broaden his understanding and share his knowledge.

Throughout his childhood and adolescence, Dr. Boden has always helped others. During high school, Dr. Boden was a lifeguard and eventually worked with the mentally il. Naturally, he progressed into his career as a healthcare professional.

Dr. Boden attended St. Matthews University School of Medicine and achieved his Medical Degree. Following this, Dr. Boden completed both his Residency and Internship at the Greenville Hospital System – University of South Carolina.

Although in the industry for 15 years, Dr. Boden has been working in his current role as Medical Director of Palliative Care for the past 4 years. Based at Baptist Healthcare, Dr. Boden fulfils a number of duties on a daily basis. These include consulting, inpatient service duties, conducting evaluations, managing family meetings, planning end of life care plans, communicating with families about life support and out-patient services. Additionally, Dr. Boden also coordinates care with other physicians.

During his 15 years in the healthcare industry, Dr. Boden has enjoyed a range of successes and is honored to have been presented with the Pillar Award for Growth. Additionally, Dr. Boden is proud to be certified in Internal Medicine as well as Hospice and Palliative Care. He attributes his success to his inner drive and the ability to carefully listen to others.

In order to continue to expand his knowledge and keep up to date with relevant developments within his area of expertise, Dr. Boden is a member of a number of professional organizations. These include the American Medical Association, the Center for Advanced Palliative Care, the American Academy of Health Physicians and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care.

Looking into the future, Dr. Boden aims to establish an outpatient Palliative Care Program. When not working, he enjoys scuba diving and biking.
