The American Health Council has warmly welcomed Dr. Maria Pavlis, M.D., as “Best in Medicine.” Having dedicated over 22 years to working within the healthcare industry, Dr. Pavlis has been recognized for her achievements as a Physician.
Dr. Pavlis aspired to work in the medical profession from a young age, even looking back as far as 1st grade, having wrote, “When I grow up I want to be a NORS” in her composition notebook. She was always drawn to medicine and took the first steps towards her career by studying bioengineering.
Dr. Pavlis went on to attain her Medical Doctorate from the University of Miami, graduating with her MD in 1991. It was Dr. Pavlis’ academic success that lead her to receive extensive medical training, completing her Residency at Yale University School of Medicine in 1994 and her Fellowship at New York Medical College in 1997.
Dr. Pavlis has fulfilled her current position of Physician at Yale New Haven Hospital since 2009. Dr. Pavlis believes her strongest attributes lies within her bedside manner and the rapport she builds with her patients, crediting her very social and strong communication skills. Mostly working within an office setting, Dr. Pavlis specializes in clinical cardiology, treating patients including consulting and follow-ups, reads nuclear stress tests, echocardiograms and health monitors. She also works at Greenwich Hospital in the hospital-based medicine emergency room providing patient care.

Dr. Pavlis believes her success stems from her hard work, high energy, perseverance and consistency. Throughout her many professional accolades, Dr. Pavlis has been honored to be acknowledged as the Chief Medical Resident at Greenwich/Yale. Dr. Pavlis has also been awarded Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania and Tau Beta Pi from the Engineering Honor Society.
In a continuous effort to broaden her knowledge, Dr. Pavlis maintains an active membership within professional associations which include the Fellow American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.
Looking to the future, Dr. Pavlis aspires to remain working in the healthcare field, where she can continue making a positive impact on her patients’ lives. Dr. Pavlis enjoys the variety and diversification within her role and is considering transitioning to groups closer to home.
Outside of work, Dr. Pavlis enjoys being creative with interests including decorating and fashion design. For the past 9 years, Dr. Pavlis has dedicated her time to teaching at Sunday School.
