Matthew Golkar, MD is honored by the American Health Council as “American’s Best Doctor” for his contributions to the medical field. A hospitalist at New York Presbyterian — Hudson Valley Medical Group in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., Dr. Golkar treats internal medicine conditions and is responsible for consultations, admissions and transitions. While he has held his current role for 12 years, Dr. Golkar has spent the last 14 years in the healthcare industry garnering skills and knowledge in internal medicine.
Intrigued by internal medicine and the various opportunity it offers, Dr. Golkar decided to pursue a profession in the field. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, he enrolled at New York University School of Medicine and earned a medical degree in 2003. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the New York University Medical Center and earned board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Since joining the New York Presbyterian — Hudson Valley Medical Group in 2006, Dr. Golkar has held a special interest in medical informatics. He is an active member of the hospital’s Electronic Medical Records Committee and serves as a supervising physician for hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the hospital’s Institute for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine.
In his free time, Dr. Golkar enjoys studying foreign languages and dancing. With a successful career at hand, he attributes his achievements to his great mentors and colleagues, as well as the supportive environment that he surrounds himself with. He plans to maintain his success in the future by continuing to prosper in his current role at New York Presbyterian — Hudson Valley Medical Group. He would eventually like to pursue additional administrative roles in the future.
