Mitchell Taguchi, MD was recently appointed to the American Health Council’s Board of Physicians for his outstanding contributions to the medical field. Currently serving as the medical director for the anesthesia department at Pacific Endoscopic Surgery Center in California, Dr. Taguchi ensures that all functions within the anesthesia department run effectively. While he has held that role for a decade, he contributes extensive skills and knowledge in gastrointestinal-related issues, anesthesia, and medicine.
Dr. Taguchi decided to pursue a career in the medical field because he always wanted to work in an operating room. After settling on pursuing anesthesia, he realized that the career allowed him the opportunity to work in an operating room setting. He enrolled at the New York Medical College and earned a medical degree in 1985, and immediately began a residency program at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. After completing his residency, Dr. Taguchi immersed himself in the medical field.
Eventually landing at the Pacific Endoscopic Surgery Center, Dr. Taguchi now performs clinical duties and attends executive meetings. He partakes in scheduling, oversees the clinic’s policies and procedures set in place and manages patient pain levels before, during and after surgical procedures. With a prosperous career at hand, Dr. Taguchi attributes his successes to his training and great mentors.
To continue to evolve with fellow medical professionals, Dr. Taguchi is a member of several associations, including the American Society of Anesthesia, the California Society of Anesthesia, and the Japanese Medical Association in California. He is also an active member of the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center, an ethnic arts and cultural center that encourages and showcases Japanese and Japanese American arts and culture, according to the organization’s website. Along with partaking in traditional Japanese culture, Dr. Taguchi enjoys traveling in his free time.
After spending 10 years in the healthcare industry, Dr. Taguchi plans to continue to remain up to date with evolving medical trends. He plans to continue to prosper in his career and thrive in his current role. After fully attaining his professional goals, he plans to retire in about 10 years.
