Mongkae Siripornsawan

The American Health Council has appointed Dr. Mongkae Siripornsawan as “Best in Medicine” in recognition of her service to the field of psychiatry. The esteemed Assistant Professor has amassed over a decade of experience within the healthcare industry and is a well-respected medical doctor.

Having always wanted to become a doctor and to work with autistic children, Dr. Siripornsawan obtained her MD from Ross University in 2007. She currently works at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and has been fulfilling her current role of Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry for the past few years.

As one of the nation’s top academic medical centers, the University of Rochester Medical Center forms the centerpiece of the University’s health research, teaching, patient care and community outreach missions. The University’s health care delivery network – UR Medicine – is anchored by Strong Memorial Hospital – an 800-bed, university-owned teaching hospital which boasts specialty programs. The center offers a broad range of services including research, education, nursing, medicine, patient care, clinical studies, community outreach and dentistry.

On a daily basis, Dr. Siripornsawan’s responsibilities include working as a child and adolescent psychiatrist, working in the psychiatric ER and performing assessments on children and adults to determine if the patient requires hospitalization. She also helps patients with behavioral issues and suicidal patients, prescribes medications and teaches medical students, residents, and child psychiatry fellows, about clinical care.

Among her many accomplishments, Dr. Siripornsawan is particularly proud of becoming a Doula and has been the recipient of the multiple ‘Strong Stars’ Award in 2016, 2017, and 2018, recognized by her colleagues. She is an esteemed member of several prestigious associations including the American Medical Association and the Association for Community Affiliated Plans and is on the Clinical Association Committee Assess Residence.

Looking back at her achievements to date, Dr. Siripornsawan attributes her success to her hard work and dedication, as well as having a great family support system from her Mother, Father, and 2 sisters. In the future, Dr. Siripornsawan hopes to form an urgent care or facility that helps with children and families.

When not busy working, Dr. Siripornsawan enjoys swimming, dancing, and sailing and traveling with her husband. She also dedicates her spare time to the Make a Wish Foundation.
