The American Health Council warmly welcomes Ms. Lindsay Farrell, MBA, FACMPE as “Best in Medicine” in recognition of her hard work and dedication to the healthcare sector as a medical leader. She is an executive leader in healthcare management, strategy, and operations.
Before her journey to CEO and President began 30 years ago, Ms. Lindsay Farrell completed her undergraduate degree in French in 1979. Afterwards, she went on to Pace University where she completed her Master’s in Business Administration in 1998. Additionally, Ms. Farrell is a Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Once her education was complete, Ms. Farrell dived straight into her career by volunteering at Open Door Family Medical Center.
From volunteering, Ms. Farrell has worked her way up at Open Door Family Medical Center. She served as the organization’s Director of Operations, Director of Development, and then advanced to President and CEO, which is now her current position. Ms. Farrell has had a very successful career and attributes this success to her passion for community health.
Being CEO and President, Ms. Farrell has an impressive amount of responsibility. Her daily work schedule includes setting the strategic direction of the federally qualified community health center and delivering its mission and brand promise to the people it serves.
Open Door is a Federally Qualified Health Center and NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home. The center offers comprehensive primary care with a focus on building healthier communities from wellness and prevention programs, to the treatment of chronic disease and illness. Their mission is to be accessible to low-income populations and communities, expand their reach and continue to uphold the highest standards of patient-centered, high-quality, affordable healthcare.
The center offers a vast number of services and products for its patients. These include, Medical care, Dental care, Behavioral Health, Nutrition, Wellness, Vision
Women’s Health, Podiatry, HIV testing, Ultrasounds, Pharmacy and also School based health centers.
Since Ms. Farrell has worked as President and CEO, Open Door has expanded remarkably, adding more programs, new sites and now also serves double the number of patients.
Ms. Farrell is a member of a substantial number of professional associations to enable her to keep up to date with relevant news, events and to broaden her knowledge of the healthcare sector. She is an affiliate to the following: Healthcare Information & Management Systems Society (HIMMS), Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), National Association of Community Health Centers, Women Business Leaders of the Healthcare Industry; Board of Directors of MVP Health Plan, the Community Health Care Association of New York State, HealthLinkNY (Regional Health Information Organization). She is also a past Chair of the Westchester Women’s Agenda.
As well as being associated with organizations, Ms. Farrell has also been acknowledged for her work and contributions. She has won National awards for Health IT (HIMSS Davies Award) and also, Grassroots Advocacy (NACHC). In addition to these, she received the Primary Care Development Corporation’s Leadership Award in 2016.
Ms. Farrell is thrilled to have grown the medical center throughout her career and wants to continue to work hard and create a work ethic that makes the staff proud to work there. In the near future, Ms. Farrell wants to educate the broader healthcare community about community health centers.
During her free time, Ms. Farrell is extremely active and enjoys competing in triathlons and skiing.
