The American Health Council has cordially welcomed Dr. Paul Williamson, M.D., as “Best in Medicine”, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the healthcare field, where he has specialized in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Dr. Williamson became first became interested in pursuing a career in healthcare after receiving much encouragement from the most influential people in his life. The aspiring doctor focused his academic endeavours on medicine, studying at the Bowman Gray Medical School and achieving his medical degree in 1982. He then had the opportunity to complete his General Surgery residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center and his fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Carle Clinic Foundation in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, helping him to attain his FACS and FASCRS status. In addition, Dr. Williamson is Board Certified by both the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Paul Williamson is held in extremely high regard for his role as Managing Partner & Owner of the Colon and Rectal Clinic of Orlando. Displaying extensive expertise in colon and rectal surgery, general surgery, medicine and patient care, Dr. Williamson’s daily role includes performing surgery in these areas. During the treatment of patients, he believes that is it vital to fully educate patients on their condition and treatment options, in order to help them to make a speedy and informed recovery.
Comprising a team of six highly experienced Board Certified physicians, The Colon and Rectal Clinic of Orlando has been treating patients for more than four decades. Their mission is to provide patients with the highest quality of surgical services, strive to be advocates for their patients, to educate themselves regarding the state of art techniques and diagnostic procedures, and to embrace quality patient care through compassionate and meticulous attention to their patients.
Throughout Dr. Williams’ many professional accomplishments, he is particularly proud to have become Program Director of the Colon & Rectal PGY VI Residency Program at Orlando Health, Co-Section Leader for Surgical Oncology and Section Leader for the Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery for UF Health Cancer Center. Furthermore, Dr. Williamson also serves as Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Central Florida, Florida State University, and University of South Florida, College of Medicine. Looking back at his achievements to date, he attributes his success to his faith in God, who has given him the tools necessary to become a successful surgeon.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions over the course of his long-standing career, Dr. Williamson has been listed in the prestigious Strathmore’s Who’s Who in Business since 1998. During his studies, he also had the honor of graduating Magna Cum Laude from Wake Forest University and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa in 1997, both of which he holds in high esteem.
In an effort to remain at the forefront of his specialist field, Dr. Williamson is a member of the American Medical Association, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
In the future, Dr. Williamson hopes to continue on his current path and to further develop his knowledge and skills. When the time comes to retire, Dr. Williamson will entrust his practice to a doctor who can continue to build upon their excellent reputation.
In his time away from work, Dr. Williamson enjoys spending time with his family. He also strives to keep active and retains a keen interest in basketball and golfing. Dr. Williamson is also known to dedicate his time when possible to charitable organizations including World Vision, Shepherd’s Hope, the Orlando Rescue Mission and the Grace Medical Center.
