The American Health Council has warmly welcomed Dr. Robert Michael Carlson, MD as “Best in Medicine.” Amassing over 31 years working within the healthcare industry, Dr. Carlson has been recognized for his contributions to the field of Anesthesia.

Dr. Carlson first became involved in his current profession through his education and training. Gaining experience working in different aspects, he found he enjoyed a mixture of medical and surgical practice.

Focusing his medical studies in Anesthesia, Dr. Carlson graduated from The University of Miami with his MD in 1986. As part of Dr. Carlson’s impressive medical background, he also had the opportunity to complete his residency at UMDNJ-University Hospital, has achieved his FL State Medical license and is a member of the American Board of Anesthesiology.

In his current capacity, Dr. Carlson has successfully upheld the role of Chief of Anesthesia at Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville for the past 2 years. Displaying expertise in Anesthesiology , Dr. Carlson’s daily role includes working as part of a group practice in both hospital and surgical centers, where he is responsible for the oversight of CRNA’s and scheduling.

Looking back at his career to date, Dr. Carlson attributes his success to dedication and his desire to continue learning. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Carlson is most proud of his volunteering efforts in both Honduras and Africa, where he provided medical services.

In a continuous effort to broaden his knowledge, Dr. Carlson maintains membership with several professional associations including The American Society of Anesthesiologists, The Florida Society of Anesthesiologists and The American Medical Association.

Looking to the future, Dr. Carlson wishes to continue achieving in his current role and to eventually transition into a part time position. In his free time outside of work Dr. Carlson enjoys boating, fishing and skiing, whilst also aspiring to travel. Dr. Carlson is also known to dedicate his time to the R. Michael Carlson Charitable Fund.
