Robert Sikora, MD, FACAAI, FAAAAI, Founder of The Virginia Center for Allergy and Asthma, in Woodbridge, Virginia has been appointed as “Best in Medicine” by the American Health Council. With 24 years in the healthcare industry, which includes the 20 years in his current role, Dr. Robert Sikora provides exceptional knowledge and expertise in Food Allergies, Immunology, Allergies, Patient Care and Medicine.
The Virginia Center for Allergy and Asthma was founded by Dr. Sikora for the past twenty-four years. The attending staff has been researching Allergy Care in Pediatrics, Immunology, Drug Allergies, Food Allergies, and Stinging Insect Allergies. Dr. Sikora and his practice bring value to both his colleagues and patients, by extracting information on how to better identify and treat a very serious yet common ailment.
Dr. Sikora chose to major in Neuroscience which sparked his interest in both research and medicine. He began at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science/Chicago Medical School and received his Medical degree in 1994. Faced with choosing between the two, Dr. Sikora decided that he prefers interacting with his patients and became a physician. He was then offered a residency in Internal Medicine at Northwestern University where he would also finish out his fellowship involving Allergy and Immunology.
In 2004, Dr. Sikora opened the doors to The Virginia Center for Allergy and Asthma in Woodbridge, Virginia. Providing outstanding care for both pediatric and adult patients, Dr. Sikora and his team truly take the time to listen, teach, and develop a personalized treatment plan for each one of their patients, making their issues and concerns their top priority. The entire team has helped over 14,000 patients find relief from their allergies, asthma, and other related conditions. Furthermore, they have added two more locations in Fredericksburg and Stafford Virginia.
Success stems from the communications skills Dr. Sikora has with his patients. He prides himself on the relationships he has built within his clinic, especially those shared with his patients. His dedication to his patients gets him through his daily routine, and it also helps in running his practice. Seeing his hard work pay off in their progress pushes him to work harder and excels him in his career.
He feels accomplished for having started his own practice and for receiving his Certification in Allergy and Immunology. Dr. Sikora is also honored to have received an Outstanding Doctor Award, and the Top Doctor from Northern Virginia Magazine in 2015. His research paper on occupational asthma won the Illinois State Allergy Society Award for excellence. He is also the Chief Fellow of the Allergy/ Immunology Division at Northwestern University.
Dr. Sikora was personally awarded the Patient’s Choice Award and the Compassionate Doctor Award on Vitals.com for 2013 and has been invited to speak at many physician meetings. He has also been on the Speaker’s Board for several pharmaceutical companies.
Mrs. Sikora has also partnered up with her husband to run a dog rescue in the Washington D.C. area and together they have rescued over 10,000 dogs.
Eventually, Dr. Sikora would like to expand his practice by welcoming a new partner within the next five years.
In his spare time, Dr. Sikora enjoys traveling around the world and dining out with his wife.
