William H. Julien


William H. Julien, MD of South Florida Vascular Associates named “Best Interventional Physician In Florida” for providing 28 years of clinical experience and expertise in lower extremity revascularization, minimally invasive procedures, and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Julien is the founder and president of his private practice, South Florida Vascular Associates, where he has provided outstanding services for 18 years. The American Health Council recognizes Dr. Julien for his innovative approach to patient care and laudable contributions to the interventional radiology field.

When he was young, Dr. Julien was influenced by his best friend’s father, who held a rewarding and selfless professional career as a family practitioner. Supplemented by his strong intellect and talent for the biomedical sciences, Dr. Julien used that inspiration to enroll at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., and earned a medical degree in 1986. He then completed fellowships where he gained specific training and board certification in interventional radiology from the Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute.

In pursuit of a rewarding clinical career where he could utilize his specialized skills, Dr. Julien founded South Florida Vascular Associates in 2001. The office is a comprehensive medical practice specializing in minimally invasive endovascular procedures, which are effective for treating a wide range of vascular conditions. Its highly specialized physicians use state-of-the-art diagnostic technology that ensures high-quality patient-focused care. The staff at the office are dedicated and knowledgeable physicians who offer the best care to each patient. As president at SFVA, Dr. Julien occupies a clinical role, consulting with patients and providing appropriate medical and minimally invasive care. Dr. Julien attributes his professional success to his hard work and dedication. He was one of the first physicians in the United States to open an Office Interventional Suite, providing patients with easy access to highly specialized medical care. A testament to his leadership at the forefront of medical advancement, Dr. Julien is also known as one of the first Interventional Radiologists to have an office-based, clinical practice in the United States. He aspires to promote exceptional patient care and continued advancement in his field in his work. Towards this end, he founded the Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society (OEIS), of which he served as Immediate Past President from 2015 to 2017.

In recognition of his professional excellence throughout his career, Dr. Julien received the Top Doctors Award and serves as a member of the Council on Cardiovascular Radiology for the American Heart Association and a member of the Practice Affairs Committee and the Society of Interventional Radiology. In addition, he has served on the advisory boards of Boston Scientific, Diomed, and Medcomp, Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. (CSI), Ziehm and Philips Medical Systems. Dr. Julien, to maintain relationships with his peers, preserves professional associations with the Society of Interventional Radiology, the American Heart Association, the American Health Council, and the Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society (OEIS).

Dr. Julien is often consulted by peers and students for his unique clinical insight. Not only has he been asked to speak at many national endovascular meetings, he has also had the privilege to train many physicians on cutting-edge minimally invasive procedures. He hopes to continue sharing his medical knowledge as a mentor to new doctors in the future. True to Dr. Julien’s humanitarian character, he also hopes to open addition Office Endovascular Suites in underserved areas to help patients within the next few years. Furthermore, he regularly donates altruistically to Native American Health Care. In his free time, Dr. Julien enjoys collecting watches, making jewelry, collecting fine wine, and traveling with his family. American Health Council celebrates Dr. Julien for his commitment to healthcare access to underserved patient populations and exceptional work in the field of medicine thus far.
